What Could Be More Romantic Than French Perfume For Christmas?

France: the country of love, romance and heavenly scents.

Miss Trixie looks very fetching in a jaunty beret and fresh croissant...I've tried to get her to put on something a little more modest, but she says I'm stunting her creativity.

Anyway, she's agreed to try out a selection of popular French perfumes for you.

By the way, French perfumes make an excellent choice for romantic Christmas gifts for your wife or girlfriend.

Come to think of it, they make beautiful gifts for any of the women in your life. So don’t forget your mom, sister, Aunty Agnes…any woman you need to buy something special for.

Miss Trixie says that if you add French perfume to your list of top ten Christmas presents for women you can't go wrong.

Anais Anais by Cacharel

Miss Trixie says it is the perfect day time scent for virtuous young women and maiden aunts, so she won't be wearing it.

The fragrance blends the deeply floral scent of roses and the sweeter lily with base notes of amber, frankincense and sandalwood.

It is pure and sweet. Miss Trixie says it makes her think of crisp, white bed linen flapping lazily in a summery garden.

It comes in a dome shaped bottle covered in a floral pattern. You’ll find it in an Eau de toilette and an Eau de parfum.

Poison by Christian Dior

It has a surprising top note of coriander, also known as cilantro, with a passionate heart of tuberose, held up by the velvety base note of oppanax.

You’ll also catch a touch of orange blossom, honey, cinnamon, pepper, plum, rosewood, rose, wild berries, cistus labdanum, carnation, jasmine, cedar, sandalwood, vetiver, musk, and vanilla.

Miss Trixie says this is strictly an evening scent.

I have to say, she was a complete pain the proverbial wearing this. Lots of wafting about, long dangerous glances and languid gestures.

The postman wouldn't come near us all day.

Miss Trixie says it conjures up a nighttime of warm breezes, soft moonlight and softer caresses. When worn lightly it is elegant and mysterious, but never reserved or shy.

But be warned, don’t let her wear too much or she’ll pong like bad night out on the tiles.

L’Instant by Guerlain

Miss Trixie almost seemed like a normal person in this fragrance.

This scent is not inhibited, but it’s not overpowering or cloying. It makes a delightful daytime perfume for a confident, feminine woman.

L’Instant blends a delicious top note of citrus and honey with the sophisticated floral fragrance of Chinese magnolia and Sambac jasmine.

There’s a touch of ylang-ylang and a deep base of warm crystalline amber.

The effect is light, airy and sexy all at the same time. Miss Trixie really felt like the bees knees in this one.

Caleche by Hermes

It has a delightfully fine top note of bergamot and mandarin with a heart of lily of the valley and vetiver held up on a base of sandalwood.

You’ll also catch traces of orange blossom, aldehydes, jasmine, rose, gardenia, iris, oak moss, cedar, and vetiver.

This scent is recommended for evening use. It benefits from the less is more rule.

A little is sophisticated and mysterious, while a little more is overpowering and garish as Miss Trixie found out...too late.

Ange Ou Demon Le Secret by Givenchy

Miss Trixie couldn't wait to try this one.

It is a light floral designed to characterize the angelic side of a woman’s personality and, goodness knows, Miss Trixie could do with some development there.

Perfect for daytime wear, it is ultra-feminine and seductive.

Ange Ou Demon Le Secret starts with a burst of Italian winter lemon and cranberry with green tea. The heart of the fragrance rests on crystalline jasmine, white peony and water lily. Its base is all wood and muskiness – blond woods, white musk and patchouli.

It comes in a beautiful crystal pendant shaped bottle engraved with the rays of the rising sun. The perfume itself is the palest pink.

Really, it is the epitome of romantic gift ideas.

While trialing this fragrance, Miss Trixie found she was prone to swoon dramatically in front of any handy man, and then slap them briskly after they’d helped her up, and then stalk off seductively.

So we probably won't get and mail delivered this week either.
